Rev Randolph Scott Karty
December 3, 1933 ~ May 19, 2005


ADA -- Funeral for Randolph Scott "Randy" Karty, 71, Ada, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Ada Church of God Worship Center with the Rev. Zackary Hadden officiating.

Mr. Karty died Thursday, May 19, 2005, in an Ardmore hospital.

Burial will be at Corley Cemetery, 4 miles south of Stratford, under direction of Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.

He was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Lawton, to George and Kate Botone Karty. When he was young, he was adopted by his uncle, William "Bill" Karty and his wife, Evelyn.

He attended school at Lawton and various other states as his father's work required moves. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and also attended Oral Roberts University.

He married Janice Lunsford on June 18, 1983.

He was a pastor at Coweta, Oklahoma City and Mesa, Ariz. Later, he was a missionary and served on Indian reservations for 18 months. He served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters: Lori A. Duble and Nancy S. Kimmick, both of Oklahoma City ;and Gina C. Lunsford, Ada; two sons: Gregory R. Lunsford, Coweta; and Kyle L. Lunsford, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren: Chloe A. Duble, Tori E. Duble, Noah S. Duble, Evan H. Kimmick, Zander G. Kimmick, Katelyn S. Kimmick, Breckton R. Lunsford and Maui C. Castro; three brothers: Billy Karty, Ken Karty and George Karty Jr, all of Lawton; three sisters: Lois Gonzales and Glenda Dennis, both of Lawton; and Penny Escoto, Thoreau, N.M.; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by both sets of parents, two brothers and three sisters.
