Edward Julius James

Edward Julius James "Porter" was one of fourteen children born to Lullene Curry James & Tommie James Sr. in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He departed this life on October 7, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Ed accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem. He attended school at Dunbar Elementary and was a graduate from Pauls Valley High. He married the love of his life Helen Jackson in 1969. To this union 5 children were born. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, detailing cars, playing dominoes and cards. Ed worked for Ballards Dairy Queen and Robert O Pratt before starting his career in construction with Tarver Construction where he worked until he retired. He loved to be neat and very clean, and even though he was a construction worker his fingernails were never dirty. He was often referred to as the best dressed man in the Valley.

He had a way of being nice that really was a gift. Away of doing thoughtful things that gave the heart a lift. He had a way of showing love that so very much and spread a lighter brighter note to all the lives he touched.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife: Helen James of Pauls Valley, his children: Ronda Hamilton of Edmond, Ok, Charlotte (David) Jackson of Edmond, Ok, Deena James of Wichita, Kansas, Harriett Colbert of Oklahoma City, Ok, Edward L. James of Norman, Ok and Sydney James of Oklahoma City, Ok His siblings: Gladys McCowen and Jackie Jackson of Pauls Valley, Zoe Wilson, Susan Douresseau and John James all of California, Jane Williams of Oklahoma City, Ok and Loretta Floyd of Wynnewood and a special brother Herman Jackson of Pauls Valley, Ok . 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces & nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
