Donald Ray "Don" Driskell
June 27, 1938 ~ April 21, 2023


Donald Ray Driskell Sr, age 84, of Purcell passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023. Don was born June 27, 1938, the 6th of 7 children born to James and Maude [Brantley] Driskell.

As a young man, he enjoyed playing church softball where he developed a comradery of friendships that lasted a lifetime. During high school, Don was a DECA member and received many awards for his participation. He graduated with the Pauls Valley Panther Class of 1956.

After high school, Don attended OU to study business. He has been married to Bennie [Followwill] for 32 years and together they had 8 wonderful children.

Don was a loyal and devoted friend and worker. He worked for Tyler and Simpson as a wholesale distributor for 33 years. During those years, he worked up from shipping and receiving in the warehouse, to the Buyer and Office Manager.

When Don was not working, he was fishing. Fishing was one of his favorite things to do. He always knew where to catch fish, what to be using to fish and when the best times were. Don made the absolute best fried fish. He also had a passion for running and ran most all his life. No distance or race was too challenging.

Don had an amazing voice. He sang in a quartet with Don Jones, Art Hanson and Buzz Seaton.

He loved his family with all his heart and cherished every moment spent with them. Don was a man of great faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Maude Driskell; his sisters, Vera White and June Driskell; and his brother, James Driskell.

He is survived by his wife, Bennie Driskell of the home; his sons, Don Driskell Jr of Newcastle, Derek Driskell and wife Tara of Norman, Rocky Brown and wife Tina of Lakeland, Fl, and Perry Brown and wife Marty of Charleston, SC; his daughters, Cindy Parson and husband Randy Geer of Kingston, Summer Driskell of Goldsby, Donna Kerns and husband Bob of Norman and Debbie Sibber and husband Scott of Lakeland, Fl; his sisters, Betty Spivey of Paul Valley, Patsy Price of Purcell and Glenna Terrell of Moore; his sister-in-law, Norma Driskell of Norman; his 16 grandchildren, Skye Innocenti and husband Lerenzo, Lexi Young, Ethan Sawyer, Colin Parson, Ayla Driskell, William, Jacob, Darina Caddell, Amanda Brown, Matthew Sibber, Philip, Blake, Troy , Kira and Luke Brown; his 10 great-grands and a host of friends that were loved and cherished by Don.

Services will be Tuesday, May 2nd @2:00 pm at Union Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

The family will be accepting friends on Monday, May 1st from 5:00-7:00 at Wilson Little Funeral Home.
