Waukomis Cemetery


Enid, OK — The funeral for Mary Elizabeth Wehling, 90, of Waukomis, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Pioneer High School. The Revs. Ron Graber and Tom Donaldson will officiate. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. The casket will be open from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 26, 1918, on the family farm east of Waukomis to John Thomas and Katherine Bregenzer Edwards and died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, east of Waukomis. She was raised in the Pioneer community and was a graduate of Pioneer High School.

She married Glen Wehling July 19, 1939, in Enid. They made their home in Douglas and later the Pioneer community. She was a charter member of Jr. Farmerette (OSU Extension) Club and a volunteer for Hospice Circle of Love. She was a school bus driver, caregiver to the elderly and community babysitter. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Vera Mae Dierksen of Waukomis; two sons, Robert Gene Wehling of Douglas and Larry Dean Wehling of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, two brothers and an infant granddaughter.
