Waukomis Cemetery


Memorial service for Elizabeth D. “Lib” Vernon, 90- year-old Enid, Okla., resident, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Waukomis Christian Church. The Rev. Dave Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Waukomis Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, where there is a register book available to sign.

Lib was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., to John J. and Maud J. (Jackson) Dowdy and died Saturday, October 11, 2014, in Enid, following a brief illness.

The youngest of three children, Lib and her family moved from Springfield to Oklahoma City, when she was less than a year old.

She graduated from Classen High School in 1941, and in 1946, began a career at Macklanburg-Duncan. Lib was employed there as an executive secretary for 43 years. Following her retirement in 1989, Lib relocated to Enid, Okla.

Lib was a member of Waukomis Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Homer E. Dowdy; sister, Kathryn A. Reagan; dear friend, Dwayne Goodwin; nephew, Ron Reagan; and great-niece, Elizabeth Blaire Dowdy.

Lib is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Memorial donations can be given through the funeral home to Waukomis Christian Church.
