Waukomis Cemetery


ENID, OK — Funeral for Janis Shiplet will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Vernon Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Janis was born July 20, 1951, in Checotah, to Dee and Lena (Myers) Williams and passed away April 25, 2014, in Enid.

In 1969, she graduated from Waukomis High School and continued her education at Enid Business College, graduating in 1970. She worked as an office assistant for Service Merchandise from the time it opened in Enid until it closed. For more than 13 years, Janis worked at Flamingo Lounge.

On July 9, 1970, Janis married Darrell Shiplet in Waukomis.

Darrell was the love of her life. They enjoyed camping and fishing together. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Janis enjoyed reading, country music and especially time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Darrell.

Janis is survived by sons, Mark Shiplet and wife, LeeAnn, Enid, and Steven Shiplet, Stockton, CA; granddaughter, Lena Shiplet; five sisters, Joyce Ford, Brentwood, CA, Judy Gettings, Enid, Wanda Wegmiller, Enid, Carolyn Pearson, Pewaukee, WI, and Brenda Priest, Oklahoma City; brother, Danny Williams, Waukomis; two aunts; three uncles; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Arthritis Foundation.
