Waukomis Cemetery


Mrs. Nora L. Roads, 85, formerly of Enid in Waukomis, died Saturday morning in Ada following a long illness.

She was born April 14, 1889 in Meridian, Kansas, and moved with her parents to Oklahoma where they settled on a farm east of Waukomis. She attended rural schools in the Waukomis area. She married Benton Roads December 15, 1907 and they made their home on a farm southeast of Waukomis. In 1937 they moved to Stillwater, and moved to Enid in 1946. They moved to Ada in 1976 where Mrs. Roads lived until her death.

She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Clarence Roads, Enid; two daughters, Mrs. S. M. (Vivian) Allen, San Leandro, California, and Mrs. Richard (Lavena) Vandewalker, Ada; a brother, J. V. Overstreet, Boise City; 12 grandchildren and 12 great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, a daughter, a brother and her parents.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 PM in the Chapel of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Sterling Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation cancer or heart fund with the funeral home as custodians of the fund.
