Ernest Grant Passey, 84, Waukomis resident, was born on June 2, 1936 in Ogden, Utah, and passed away peacefully on November 30, 2020 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Waukomis Cemetery with Bishop David Bliss officiating. Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.

Waukomis, OK – Ernest Grant Passey died peacefully in his home on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born June 2, 1936 in Ogden, UT to Grant Hamilton Passey and Gwendolyn Oborn Passey (Morse). He was married to Mary Darlene Ross on Apr. 20, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple, SLC, Utah.

Ernie and Darlene first met in elementary school during 5th grade at Lincoln elementary school in Ogden, Utah. They had a crush on each other that lasted until they officially started courting. Dad joined the air force as an air traffic controller at the age of 18, and after 4 years in the service and a year on Iwo Jima he decided he could not live without Mom and they got married and were transferred to Holloman AFB in New Mexico. Dad also served on Kindley AFB in Bermuda, Big Spring AFB in Texas, Wheelus AFB in Tripoli, Libya, and was on duty when Qadhafi took over the country in a military coup in 1969. Because of the coup, Dad was sent back to Holloman AFB and was there when he was transferred to Da Nang AFB in Vietnam, while the family stayed in New Mexico. After his return from Vietnam, he was transferred to Vance AFB in Enid, Ok and has been in Enid ever since. He retired from the Air Force in 1976 and continued working in the flight simulator building for the next 20 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Phillips University in Enid in 1995.

Ernie served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a Bishop, Bishop’s counselor, Branch President, Temple worker, and as a volunteer gospel instructor at the Diamondback Correctional Facility in Watonga, Oklahoma. He loves discussing the Savior and His gospel and listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the music of the Church. In fact, He loved music so much he sang in a Barbershop chorus in Enid for many years. He was so touched by the harmonies of the music that it made him emotional and this impeded his ability to sing so he had to give up this great love of his. Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Darlene and his children: Ramona Maloy (Kenneth), Steve Passey (Carmenia), Cliff Passey (Cari Lee) and Megan Passey. Of course we can’t leave out the amazing grandkids: Alacia Hood (Alan), Amanda, Joseph, Joshua, Jacob, James, Lauren Atkinson (Evan), Jessica Brown (Jordan), Danielle, Jordan, Logan (Baily), and Hunter. With one great-grandkid on the way… Obadiah!!

We miss you Dad! We Love you and are so glad you have always been our:
Patriarch, Partner, Patriot!
