OBITUARY
Mary Elizabeth Jones Nichols was born February 18, 1862, near McCombs, Illinois, and died near Waukomis, Okla. March 1, 1940 at the age of 78 years and 12 days.

She with her parents went to Kansas in her girlhood and on March 31, 1887 she was united in marriage with, W. N. Nichols in Langdon, Kansas. To this union were born nine children. In 1892 Mr. and Mrs. Nichols came to Dover, Okla. and at the opening of the Cherokee Strip came to Garfield Co. , establishing their home on the homestead where she resided at the time of her passing.

Mrs. Nichols was a devoted wife and loving Mother. Through the pioneer days and the rearing of her family, her lovable character of patience, kindness, and thoughtfulness of others developed into a christian life that has left a heritage to her loved ones.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Christian Church of Waukomis. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, of the home, her children, Iva Brinkman; Cora Mathews, Ray Nichols, Rose Downing, Ruby LeGrand, Lester Nichols, and Myrtle Noland. One son, Howard Nichols died Aug. 3, 1924 and an infant daughter preceded her in death.

Besided her immediate family she leaves 19 crandchilddren, 6 great grandchildren, her brother Jim Jones of Spring Hill, Kan. and a host of friends.
