Funeral service for Velma Milam, age 78, of Waukomis, will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Nance and Rev. Rick Milam officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Velma was born to Henry James and Alice Maude (Moxon) Chapman, on June 24, 1937, in Waukomis, and passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, in Okeene.

Velma grew up and attended school in Waukomis. On June 24, 1953 she married Orvil Milam in Waukomis. She was a housewife, owned and operated Velma’s 81 Café in Hennessey, worked at Gold Spot Dairy for 7 years, and worked as a waitress at Three Towers Restaurant till it closed. Velma was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Enid. She was also a faithful pastors wife with Orvil, and a Sunday school teacher.

Velma is survived by her husband Orvil of the home; children Rick T. Milam (Angela), Kathy J. Watson (DJ), and Tim A. Milam (Lenee); 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her twin brother Vernon Chapman (JoAnn) ; and sister in law Irene Brown of California.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Leo and Elmo Chapman, and great granddaughter Morgan K. Thompson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made through the funeral home to Trinity Baptist Church Youth Group.
