Waukomis Cemetery


ENID - Mass of Christian burial for Robert Milacek, 68, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Larry Kowalski officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Senator Milacek was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Enid, Okla., the son of Charles V. and Anna Semrad Milacek and died Wednesday afternoon, March 31, 2010, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Waukomis High School with the class of 1960. Robert received his degree from Panhandle State University in 1965 and his master's from Phillips University.

Robert married Linda Petersen in Clayton, N.M., on Jan. 25, 1964. He started his teaching career at Owasso schools and later became principal for Glencoe Junior High School. In 1969, they moved to Waukomis , where he taught history and government at Waller Junior High School and Pioneer High School. He farmed for more than 20 years. They lived in Waukomis for 32 years before moving to Enid in 2001.

Robert was an Oklahoma State Representative from 1976 until 1982. He then was elected to serve District 19 in the Oklahoma State Senate in 1997, retiring in 2004. Robert was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and Garfield County Republican Party.

Robert is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; daughters, Pam Milacek of Dallas, Texas, Kim and husband Jon Blankenship of Enid and Stephanie and husband Randy Smith of Tulsa; grandchildren, Sam and Presley Blankenship and Seve, Kira and Sela Smith; stepgrandchildren, Jon Ryan, Will and Madison Blankenship; sisters, Teresa Smith of Denver, Colo., Beatrice Schovanec of Enid, Agnes and her husband Duane Schue Bianco-Schue of Piano, Texas, and Alice and husband Dr. Dennis Diedrich of Overland Park, Kan.; brothers, George and wife Louise Milacek of Waukomis , Okla., and Charles and wife Marina Milacek of Waukomis , Okla.; and one sister-in-law, Ivon Milacek of Waukomis .

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Milacek; one brother, Alfred Milacek; and two brothers-in-law, Leonard Schovanec and Wayne Smith.

Memorials may be made in Robert's memory to Parkinson's Foundation of Oklahoma or the Robert Milacek Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit a student at Pioneer High School with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
