Waukomis Cemetery


ENID — The funeral for David Meyer, 74, will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2011, at Anderson - Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerald Bushman officiating. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home .

David was born to Richard and Edna (Curl) Meyer on November 9, 1937, in Grayslake, Illinois, and died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at his home in Enid.

David was raised in Missouri. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He moved to Oklahoma City, where he met and married Beatrice Travis on October 12, 1962. They lived in Missouri before moving to Enid in 1980. David was a welder and mechanic and owned a siding and roofing business. He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands, fishing and old westerns. David attended Maine Church of the Nazarene.

David is survived by wife, Beatrice; children, David Meyer, Richard Meyer and Jana Rickards, all of Enid; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard, Ronald, Carl and John Meyer; one sister, Martha Welch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two great-grandchildren.
