ENID — Graveside service for Rev. Harold A. Honnold, 93, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. 2012, in Waukomis Cemetery with Larry McCumber officiating under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Harold was born July 14, 1918, in Sand Springs and then moved with his family at the age of 5 to Waukomis, Okla., to Wilbur and Lula Jane (Lewis) Honnold, and passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Harold graduated from Waukomis High School and attended Phillips University in Enid. He went to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, earning his degree in divinity.

He was ordained the summer of 1944 in the United Methodist Church. He worked as a minister for 62 years, retiring in 1985 from the United Methodist Church.

Harold married Fay Shelton July 16, 1944, in Dallas, Texas. They lived in several towns in Oklahoma and retired to Enid in 1985. He was a member of Oklahoma United Methodist Church Conference. After retirement, he continued preaching in many area churches until recently.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Fay McCumber of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Scott Templin of Norman and Shawn Templin of Oklahoma City; and great-granddaughter, Tori Marie Templin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Fay.

Memorials may be made to Central Conference Pension Initiative of the United Methodist Church (for Missionaries) with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
