Esther Lillian Herrin

Graveside service for Esther Herrin, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Waukomis Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Esther was born to George and Orpha Secor on April 16, 1922, near Drummond, Okla., and moved to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2015, in Enid, Okla. She will be greatly missed by her earthly family and friends. We are comforted in knowing her homecoming was joyful.

The family moved to Hennessey, Okla., where she attended school.

On Aug. 1, 1939, Esther married Lloyd Herrin. They made their home east of Bison, Okla., until their retirement, when they moved to Enid. Esther worked hard on the farm, where they made their living. She loved her family devotedly, friends and neighbors; always being the first to give a helping hand or cook something terrific when needed. She had a very generous heart, quick to show love, was a devoted mother and wife.

Esther was an active member of her church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school, and many duties as needs arose. She daily studied the Word of God throughout her life, faithful until her health prohibited her. She was a ray of God’s love to all who knew her. Esther enjoyed music, playing the steel guitar, as well as having a beautiful voice. She loved sewing and made most of the family’s clothing.

After raising her family, she became an artist of oil paintings. She commissioned many of her works and has left many for her family to enjoy.

Esther especially enjoyed their times of traveling in their motorhome; even though away from home, they always found a church to attend, making many friends over the years. Wherever they traveled, they found someone with the common thread of being a “farmer” to visit with. She left a wealth of wisdom, love and kindness with all who knew her. She prayed unceasingly for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Those prayers will continue to bring blessings to her family for generations to come.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; parents, George and Orpha Secor; brother, Alvin; two nephews; and many cousins.

She leaves two children: daughter, Wynema Kay Martin and husband Barclay of Madill, and son, Irvin Lloyd Herrin, all of Enid; two grandchildren, Jeff Brown and wife Jan of Madill, and Rhonda Lippert and husband John of Marshall; three stepgrandchildren, Mike Martin and wife Jerri of Davis, Steve Martin of Shawnee, and Yvette Love of Peoria, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Angela (Brown) Figueroa and husband Grant, Kristen Brown, Kayla Lippert, Austin Lippert, Makenzie Lippert, Jaden and Cole Martin, Blake and Ally Martin, Tanner and Ty Love; five great-great-grandchildren, Sydney, Elijah and Crayton, Emma and Briton; and two nephews, Ron Secor and James Hawk.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Golden Oaks and the Circle of Love Hospice for their many acts of kindness and caring service and comfort they provided over the years. We thank all the friends that have helped during this time; the prayers, calls and cards are very comforting and helpful during this difficult time, more than we can express in words.

Your professional help and direction will not be forgotten.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love.
