Waukomis Cemetery


Gene Henry, 62, Route 5, died Saturday evening in a local hospital after a short illness.

He was born August 18, 1910 in Birds, Illinois. He moved to Oklahoma with his parents at an early age and attended Covington schools. He lived in the Covington community until moving to Enid in 1967. He married the former Dorothy Bowers September 25, 1932. He was employed by Champlin Refining Company 40 years and retired 1 September, 1972. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 484 and the Order of Eastern Star No. 350 of Covington. He had been a Board member on the Covington City Counsel for a number of years and a retired member of the Covington Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a grandson.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Jean Lee) Jones and Mrs. Gary (Susie) Dupy, Enid, and Mrs. Lawrence (Nancy) Mack, Lucien; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gaynell LaFon and Mrs. Catherine Harmon, Enid.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold L. Herndon officiating. Burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery. Those who wish may make contribution in Henry's memory to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Division, with Henninger - Allen custodian of the fund.
