Lillian E. (Semrad) Handley passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.

She was born February 14, 1923, in Bison, OK, the daughter of Anton and Agnes (Parizek) Semrad.

Lillian and Aubrey S. Handley were united in marriage on August 17, 1946 in Enid, OK.

She is survived by three sons, Terry of San Antonio, TX; Jan of Blue Springs, MO; and Gary of Edmond, OK; five granddaughters; two brothers, Gene Semrad of Enid; Lawrence Semrad of Fort Worth, TX; and two sisters, Alice Semrad of Enid and Margaret Handley of Golden, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Raymond and Norbert, and one sister, Irene Hoffman.

She was an accomplished nurse, loving mother and devoted wife. Although she experienced many chronic health issues over the last 20 years she demonstrated a strong character and ability to show love, friendship and service to others.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK, on June 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. Public viewing is available on Tuesday afternoon June 23, 2009, Wednesday all day June 24, 2009 and Thursday morning, prior to the funeral services, June 25, 2009. Following the funeral services, interment will be in the cemetery at Waukomis , OK.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Bradford Village in Edmond, OK where Lillian resided the last few years of her life and to thank the nursing staff and physicians of Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City who provided medical attention during her recent hospital stay.

Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Matthews Funeral Home.
