Waukomis Cemetery


Walter "Walt" Eifert, 84, prominent Waukomis farmer - stockman, died early Wednesday in an Enid nursing home after a long illness.

His funeral will be at 2 PM Friday in the Waukomis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold A. Honnold and the Rev. Tom Hobby officiating. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral Home. The casket will be open at the church until service time, then remain closed.

Eifert was born October 27, 1900, in Clay Center, Nebraska, to Conrad and Louise Eifert. He moved with his parents to the Waukomis community in 1906 from Missouri, and attended schools at Waukomis.

On November 8, 1930, he married Laverne Hayes in Drummond. They settled on a farm west of Waukomis where they lived until moving to the town of Waukomis in 1944. Eifert continued to farm and ranch until retiring in 1970. He was instrumental in founding the Waukomis and Drummond elevators, and was a longtime member of the Waukomis and Drummond Elevator Cooperation Board.

He also was a longtime member of the Waukomis United Methodist Church, and was very active in church work, serving in all church offices.

Eifert was a member and past president of the Waukomis Lyons Club. An active Mason, he also was a member of the Waukomis Masonic Lodge No. 161 for more than 50 years and had been past master of the Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne; two sons, Bill Fluman and John Fluman, both of Waukomis; seven grandchildren and seven great – grandchildren.
