The funeral services for Vera J. Camp, wife of former Congressman John "Happy" Camp and 94 year old Waukomis resident, will be Wednesday, 10:30 AM November 24, 2004 in the Waukomis Christian Church. The Rev. David Jones and Rev. Paul Hopkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery. Vera was born August 30, 1910 in Ralston, Oklahoma to Elijah Pemberton Overman and Iva M.(Ross) Overman and died Friday, November 19, 2004 in Greenbrier Nursing Home. She attended grade school in Ralston, junior high at Fairfax, and high School in Stillwater where she was the first May Queen. She graduated from Enid High School in 1929. On November 26, 1930, she married John Happy Camp. They made their home in Waukomis where she lived for 70 years. The couple operated the Waukomis State Bank until their retirement. He died September 27, 1987.

She was active in the Waukomis Christian Church, the Eastern Star and was an Honorary Life-time Member of the Republican Ladies of Enid.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia Camp Rainey and husband Gib, of Anadarko, Oklahoma and Kay Camp Dillingham and husband Dan, of Enid; sons John Camp and wife Pat, of Lubbock, and Stephen Richard Camp and wife Annie of Houston, Texas and Lagos, Nigera. 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John , her parents, and a half brother Jack Price.
