Waukomis Cemetery


Mrs. Bert "Captola" CAMPBELL,90, Santa Paula, Calif. formerly of Waukomis, died Friday. Her body will lay in state in the Brown Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday and grave side services will be at 10 a.m. in the Waukomis Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Howerton of the Waukomis United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will be at the Holiday Inn in Enid or at the Charles Yuhnke home in Waukomis untill after the service.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Clinton, Ky and spent her childhood there. She came to Waukomis in her early 20's and taught school in Garfield County, later serving as secretary to the county superintendent.

She and Bert Campbell were married in Wichita, Ks., in 1918. He ran the Waukomis news paper until his death in 1940 and she contiued to run the paper for another three years then moved to Santa Paula. She taught in the elementary schools there for several years.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Methodist Church and had been a regent of the Enid Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Campbell was active in the Federation Clubs and organized the Woman's study Club of Waukomis.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Janet Richardson of Santa Paula, Calif. and Miss. Nancy Campbell of Glendale, Calif. ; two grandchildren, John Richardson of Fresno, Calif. and Mrs. Alice Kelley of Raliegh, N C and three great granddaughters.
