Waukomis Cemetery


Funeral service for Royce Dean Baker, 83, of Waukomis, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at United Methodist Church, Waukomis, with Pastor Garry Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

The family will be receiving guests from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at the funeral home. Royce was born on the Baker family farm in rural Waukomis, Okla., on Nov. 27, 1929. As a youth, he attended Morning Star School and Waukomis High School.

Following graduation he served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the years of 1953 and 1954. As a civilian he worked as a dispatcher for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Troop J, Enid, Okla., for 291/2 years. Royce also farmed and raised cattle on land that is now recognized as a “Centennial Farm” by the State of Oklahoma.

In 1951, Royce and Elizabeth Brown were united in marriage, and she survives.

Additional survivors are their three sons, Wayne Baker and wife Gwenda, Gary Baker, and Tony Baker and wife Miranda; six grandsons, Shaun Baker and wife Jessica, Brian Baker, Kyle Baker and wife Jacey, Trent Baker, Nathan Baker and Caleb Baker; one granddaughter, Madison Crenshaw and husband Stuart; two great-granddaughters, Makenna Crenshaw and Juliette Baker. Royce’s only sibling, Jim and his wife Rosa also survive.
