Waukomis Cemetery


William D. (Bill) Atherton, 54, Route 4, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2 PM in the Waukomis Cemetery with the Rev. Max Colaw officiating. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Atherton was born in Enid, and was reared and attended schools in Waukomis. He served in the Marine Corps during World War I I in the Pacific Theater with the First Marine Division.

Atherton had lived in California from 1957 until returning to Oklahoma in 1973. He was a mechanic by trade.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora (Sally); one son, Dale, Tulsa; three step – sons, Mark Atherton, Pacific Grove, California, William Roberts, Fresno, California, and Mervin Leventon, Sacramento, California; one step – daughter, Mrs. Juanita Smith, Lancaster, California; and 13 grandchildren.
