Waukomis Cemetery


Gael L. Atherton, 75, of Waukomis, died early Saturday morning in a local hospital. Services will be 2 PM Monday in the Waukomis Christian church with the Rev. Paul D. Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of U sol – Evans Funeral Home.

He was born December 18,1911, near Waukomis and was a lifetime resident of the area. He married Helen Rogers on July 18, 1931, in Douglas.

Atherton worked as a farmer and during World War I I was employed at Vance Air Force Base. He later was self – employed as a mechanic.

He was a member of the Christian church at Waukomis. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; a daughter, Geneva McGuire, Owensboro, Kentucky; a sister, Alice Anderson, Waukomis; and a granddaughter.

Memorials can be made to the Cardiac Unit of Bass Baptist Hospital with the funeral home as custodian.
