FRANK P. ATHERTON DIED SATURDAY NIGHT IN CALIFORNIA CITY
Frank P. Atherton, aged 76 years and 15 days, died at Pasadena, Calif., Saturday night about 10 o'clock. Mr. Atherton had been in failing health for some time and he and Mrs. Atherton were spending the winter months in California.
The body was to leave Pasadena Wednesday and probably arrive here Friday night. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. Ross Griffeth, in charge and burial will be made in the Waukomis cemetery.
Mr. Atherton has been a resident of the Waukomis community for about 20 years. HE was a prominent stock man and farmer, Vice President of the Farmers State Bank, and for several years has been president of the town board of trustees.
Besides his widow, whom he married about a year ago, he is survived by 5 children, all of whom reside in the Waukomis community. They are: Mrs. Fred Pream, Fred, Will, Edis and Joe Atherton. Two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Haxton of Lafayette, Ill.; and Mrs. Mary C. Winter of Volant, Penn.; also survive him.
Three of his sons - Will, Edis and Joe - were with him at the time of his death. Will is accompanying the body back to Waukomis, while Edis and Joe, together with L.W. Green who was also in California, are motoring through. They are expected to arrive here Friday.
