Paradise Cemetery


A graveside service for Elsie P. Hampton, 85, of Enid will be 9 a.m. Monday in Paradise Cemetery, Breckinridge. The Rev. Danny Marney will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born April 24, 1920, in Longwell, N.M., to Burr R. and Lita Gott Polson and died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid.
She graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1938, and from Eastern New Mexico Teachers College, Portales, N. M. She married Audie Hampton Nov. 7, 1953, in New Mexico. He preceded her in death.
She taught elementary school at Tularosa School, N.M., and Mescalero Apache Indian School for 19 years, retiring in 1984. She moved to Enid in 1985.
Surviving are four daughters, Lita Glenn, Karen Jones and Jennifer Hampton, all of Enid, and Christine Grubb of Alamogordo, N. M.; one son, Henry Kevin Hampton of Enid; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Audie, she was preceded in death by one son, three brothers, and two sisters.
