Moritz "Fritz" Obrecht
August 30, 1827 ~ September 11, 1896


Moritz "Fritz" Obrecht was born in Baden-WÜrttemberg, Germany on August 30, 1872 and died in Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahoma on September 11, 1896.

He was the son of Francis Ignatz & Johanna [Walz] Obrecht, one of six children.

Moritz emigrated to the United States at the age of 27 years.

He was united in marriage to Alice Dorney in Cincinnati, Ohio sometime before 1858, the daughter of Edmond & Catherine [Toomey] Dorney and divorced in 1878 in Missouri.

Alice was been born in Tipperary County, Ireland.

Nine children were born to Fritz and Alice; Anthony, Mary Ann, Lawrence, Unknown, Katherine, Lucy, Nell, Unknown and Margaret.

Alice Dorney Obrecht changed the name to O'Brate.

Moritz "Fritz" Obrecht was buried at the Old Banner Cemetery outside of Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahom/
