Patsy Jean Wyckoff, 77, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid. A committal service for Pat will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the mausoleum chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Matt Smith, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Blackwell, will officiate.

Pat was born April 21, 1932, in Tonkawa, Okla., the daughter of James R. English and Bertha Williams English Morland. The family moved to Kremlin, Okla., where she was raised by her dad and Aunt Lou. Pat attended Kremlin schools, graduating in 1950. Pat moved to Pond Creek in 1953 and married Lawrence “Hop” Wyckoff on Dec. 3, 1953, in Enid, Okla. Hop preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2003.

Pat attended Enid Business College, where she took accounting courses. She worked as a waitress at Marvels Café, Peppermint Pad, Curve Café and Pond Creek High School cafeteria, as well as a receptionist at Pond Creek Veterinary Clinic. Pat also was a member of VFW Woman’s Auxiliary. More importantly, she served faithfully as a housewife, mother and grandma for more than 55 years. Investing her life in her family, she rarely missed a basketball or baseball game or music recital. She also was an avid OSU fan and made it a habit to watch their games on TV while listing to the OSU commentaries on the radio.

Small in stature but big in heart, Pat was generous and always ready to share out of her modest means. Pat was unpretentious, content, never complained and despite her failing health, she never lost her sense of humor or her appreciation for her friends, family, the doctors and staff at St. Mary’s and Bass Integris hospitals and the Pond Creek ambulance crew.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Anita Doyal and husband Gayle, Ponca City; son, Dr. Larry Wyckoff and wife Anne, Blackwell; grandchildren, Jonathon, Steven and Sarah Wyckoff, Blackwell; brother, Robert English, Kremlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, George English, and sisters, Betty Fox and Bonna McCandless.

Memorials may be made to Pond Creek Ambulance Fund with Wilson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds. Service is under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.
