Funeral for Billy Glen Woods, 70, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Central Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Kevin Ward and Rodney Wardwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 6-7 p.m. today, Jan. 8, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Bill was born to Virgil and Marie (Gentzel) Woods on Oct. 3, 1943, in Shidler, Okla., and passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Enid.

Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On Feb. 13, 1965, he married Alma “Jean” Winkle in Borger, Texas, where they made their home.

He worked at Brinson’s Big B Grocery Store, meatcutting, at the age of 16. He then worked for Ideal Supermarkets, Bestyet, Boy’s Market and retired at Vance AFB commissary.

Bill was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, where over the course of 40 years he served on the Board of Deacons, Building Committee, taught Sunday school, played guitar in the worship band, sang with the praise team, as well as singing in various groups.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed cooking, always trying new recipes. Above all, he loved taking vacations with his family. Bill enjoyed bird watching and always had a love for cars. He was loved by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Lanette Henry and husband Nick of Enid; granddaughter, Morgan Henry of Enid; brother, Roger Woods of Oklahoma City; and mother-in-law, Ophelia Winkle of Enid.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paula Laird; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials may be made to Central Assembly of God Building Fund.
