Johnny “John” Williams passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 67.

Johnny was born Aug. 31, 1948, in Enid, Okla., to John Bragg Williams and Elsie Mae Weber.

He graduated from California Polytechnic Institute in Pomona, Calif., in March 1973, with a bachelor of science in management. He served in the Army from 1969-1971 and acted as a medic in-country during the Vietnam War.

Johnny is survived by his life partner, Nalora Burns of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Jeremy David and wife Charlotte of Gilbert, Ariz., and Nathaniel Sean and wife Yevgeniya of Beaverton, Ore.; brothers, Harold Williams of Pennsylvania and Joseph Williams of Oklahoma; sisters, Linda Swart and Geneva Batchelder of Oklahoma; his half-siblings, William Ryan of Japan, Kathleen Ryan of Nevada, and Francis Ryan of California; grandchildren, David and Emily of Gilbert, Ariz.; his aunt, Barbara Weber of Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His family remembers him as a generous, patient and caring individual, who always put the needs of others above his own.

Johnny was accomplished at chuck wagon cooking, cowboy action shooting and baking. He was an individual who loved genealogical research and who was passionate about educating young people about the American Civil War and local history. He was an active and dedicated member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Single Action Shooting Society and the Oklahoma Historical Society.

A funeral was held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Okla. Viewing was 2 p.m., with a service following at 3 p.m. His final resting place will be Memorial Park. His son, Jeremy D. Williams, officiated at the ceremony. All were welcome to attend and celebrate Johnny’s life.
