ENID, OK - Funeral for John A. Williams, 85, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Don Williams and Dr. Greg Hook will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 4:30-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

John was born June 17, 1928, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and died on August 23, 2013, in Enid.

He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Guthrie High School. John enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1949 and served in two tours of the Korean War and three tours in the Vietnam War.

On March 14, 1952, he married Marumi Higashida in Fukuoka, Japan. They lived in Washington D.C., Alaska, North Carolina and Texas during his service time. John was awarded the Bronze Star medal in October 1967. Following his retirement from the Air Force, they made their home in Denver.

He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1973. John was the fleet manager for United States Postal Service in Denver. In 1986, he was appointed to the USPS vehicle service advisory council as a representative for the Central Region of the U.S. They moved to Enid in 2002.

John was a 32nd Mason and received his 50-year pin. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Marumi, of the home; one brother and his wife, Duane and Barbara Williams, Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Anita Allison and Mary Cue, both of Enid, and Gail Temple of Palm Springs, CA; a sister-in-law, JoBeth Williams of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
