Memorial service for Don A. Willhoite, Enid, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Christian Church of the Covenant, with Rev. Pat Sutherlin officiating. Private family burial will be held prior in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Morris, Okla., the son of John and Anna Badcliffe Willhoite. He died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his home, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was raised and educated in Muskogee, Skia-took, and graduated from Nowata High School.

Don served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946, with the rank of sergeant.

Don graduated from Oklahoma University and later entered into the insurance business, where he worked 34 years.

Don married Barbara J. Banks in Hobart, Okla., on Sept. 5, 1946.

Don and Barbara moved to Enid with their three children, Dana, Doug and Lisa in 1958. Barbara preceded him in death on July 1, 1976.

Don married Peggy McKnight Phillips in Enid, Okla., in August 1977.

He was a member of Christian Church of The Covenant, where he was board chair for four years, a member of the choir and an elder.

Don is a member of the Masons, past board member of Oakwood Country Club, Enid Rotary Club and past-president of the Enid United Way.

Don is survived by his wife, Peggy of the home; two daughters, Dana Elizabeth Pershing of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Lisa Willhoite Oliver of Tulsa; one son, Douglas John and wife Jane Willhoite of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Vivi Phillips Grigsby and husband Jim, children Jessica and Sean Grigsby of Edmond, and Michele Phillips and husband Dudley Was of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Hannah Pershing Coit and husband Kevin, David Willhoite and wife Jasmine, John Willhoite, Adam Oliver and Trevor Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Eliza Coit; two brothers, Dean Willhoite of Mustang, Okla., and Ray Willhoite of Cropwell, Ala.

In addition to his first wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Richard Rivers, Hospice Circle of Love, Ross Health Care and caregivers Naoma, Phyllis and Barbara.

Memorials may be made in Don’s memory to Christian Church of The Covenant or Oklahoma Medical Research for Parkinsons with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

(Submitted by family) The funeral for Mr. Clair Eugene Corderman, 80, of Enid, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Enid, with the Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Arrangements are under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

A special thanks to all the physicians, caregivers, and hospice during the last few years.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or charity of the donor’s choice, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
