Karen was born August 22, 1949, in Chicago to Jerome and Genevieve C. Yoder Determan and passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Karen worked for several owners of Oxford Cleaners, including Charlie Elam, who she always referred to as “Mr. Elam,” then Vernon and Margie Bierig, Pierce and Janet Jones. She finally purchased the business in August 2004. Karen’s struggle with MS forced her to close the shop in November 2013.

Karen married Jewell Whitley Sept. 18, 1981, in Kingfisher. He passed away Jan. 23, 2010.

Karen was a charter member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

She will be missed by many cousins and very close friends and customers.
