© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma June 1981 November 20, 1908 ~ June 7, 1981 Services for prominent Enid dentist, Dr Otho R. Whiteneck 72, 1221 W. Wabash will be a 2 p.m. Thursday in the Central Christian Church. Dr Lloyd Lambert will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery [Enid, OK] under the direction of Brown Funeral Home. Whiteneck died Sunday of an apparent heart attack at his home. Born on a farm near Aline, OK, on November 10, 1908, he graduated from Carmen High School, earned a bachelor of science degree from MrPherson, Kan. College and a doctor of dental surgery degree from Washington University, St Louis, MO. Whiteneck started general practice in 1934 in Enid. He and DeNolda Haworth of St. Louis were married August 23, 1934 at Flora, Illonois. Whiteneck served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps during the World War II. He was a Fellow in the American College of Dentistry and in the International College of Dentistry. He had served on the State Board of Health for 30 years and represented Garfield County in the legislature from 1939-1943. He received the Carl Puckett Memorial Award in 1972 for his service to the Garfield County Tuberculosis Association. He was past president and first speaker of the Oklahoma house of delegates of the Oklahoma Dental Assoc. and past recipient of the "Outstanding Man of the Year" dentistry award. Whiteneck was a member of Central Christian Church, serving as an elder, and was sponser of the Sooner Class for the past 36 years. Whiteneck was a former past president of the Enid Councils of Churches, a member and past president of the Enid Lions Club, and past district governor of Lions International. He also was past council chariman of the Great Salt Plains Council of the Boy Scouts of America, past member-at-large of the Boy Scouts and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Whiteneck was a member and past president of the Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strop Pioneers and a member of Argone Post # 4 of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, DeNolda, of the home; a son Dr Otho R. Whiteneck II, Dallas (TX); 5 brothers, John S. Whiteneck, Jr., Beaverton, Ore.; Wray Whiteneck, Virden, IL; Dr. Wilbur Whiteneck and Dr Rhonald Whiteneck, both of Woodward, OK; and Elden Whiteneck, Sarcoxie, MO; 4 sisters, Mrs Lowell Prentice, Aline, OK, Jennie Newton and Mrs Loren Prentice, both of Waynoka, OK and Lola Jeffries, Ringwood, OK. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma September 9, 2007 April 29, 1911 ~ September 6, 2007 Funeral services for DeNolda Pauline [Haworth] Whiteneck, 96, Enid will be today, September 9, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Central Christian Church with Reverend John McLemore officiating. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. DeNolda was born April 29, 1911, in Marion County, Illinois, the daughter of William James and Nellie Elizabeth Haworth, and died Thursday, September 6, 2007, in Enid. She was a graduate of Saint John's School of Nursing of Saint Louis University. She married Dr Otho Whiteneck in 1934 in St Louis, Missouri. DeNolda was a member of Mayflower Descendants Society and Descendant of Quaker Heritage George Haworth; member of Wives of Oklahoma Legislators; past president of Junior Welfare League, 1948 to 1949; past president of Enid Lioness Club; past vice-president of Oklahoma State Dental Auxiliary; past-president of Garfield County Dental Auxiliary; was involved for many years with the Boy Scouts as Den Mother and Pac Coordinator at Taft School and active in Taft School PTA; member of Central Christian Church since 1935; co-founder with Dr Otho of Young People's Department 1935 with Dr Marshall as teacher; co-founder with husband Dr Otho of Sooner Class at Central Christian Church in 1945 and continued with Sooner Class until the 50th celebration. She is survived by her beloved son, Dr. Otho Whiteneck II of Enid; granddaughter, Blair Schluter and husband Jason of Mission, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. DeNolda was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Diann Webster Whiteneck in 1949; four sisters and one brother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in DeNolda’s memory to Central Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma Februaey 1999 February 22, 1946 ~ February 25, 1999 Funeral services for Pamela Stevens Whiteneck, age 53 of Enid, were held Saturday, February 27, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church of Enid with Reverend John Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home. She was born on February 22, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Quincy O. and Wilma E. Miller Stevens, and died Thursday morning, February 25, 1999 in St Mary's Mercy Hospital. She graduated from U.S.Grant High School in Oklahoma City and she attended the University of Oklahoma. She lent her enthusiasm and support to many, many cultural and social causes which included: she served as board member on Ballet Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Arts Council, the American Lung Association of Oklahoma [she was also vice president], Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra, the Enid Phillips Symphony Orchestra, and the Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse and Adventure Quest. Pam was the chairman of the Odessy Campaign to raise money for the Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra. She was currently on the Board of Directors for the Enid Arts and Humanity Council and the Assembly of Community Arts Councils of Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Class Leadership of greater Enid. She was a member of PEO Chapter AQ in Enid. and also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Enid. She married Dr. Otho Whiteneck in Enid on August 25, 1990. Preceding her in death was her mother, Wilma E. Stevens; her maternal grandparents, Mr & Mrs William F. Miller of Enid, OK; her paternal grandmother, Katherine Snyder and great-grandmother, Cora Gibbins of Seminole, OK. Survivors are her husband, Dr. Otho Whiteneck, of the residence; daughter, Blair E. Frazier of Enid, OK and son, Jordan S. Frazier of Oklahoma City, OK; father, Quincey O. Stevens and stepmother, Patty Kelly Stevens of Oklahoma City; sister, Michelle Stevens Childs of Norfolk, Connecticut; nieces, Bronwen A. Childs, Quincy E. Childs, of Norfolk , Connecticut; and nephew, Starling W. Childs of Norfolk, Connecticut. |
