Wheeler, 94, Enid resident, will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 am in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Opal was born on March 9, 1927 in Enid, the daughter of William C. and Duffie Derr, and passed away on July 2, 2021 at her residence. Opal was raised in Hunter, graduating from Hunter High School. Later, Opal studied at Enid Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Champlin Oil Company. She married Dr Donald E. Wheeler. He preceded her in passing. Opal is survived by her son, Donald and wife Terri Wheeler of Enid; granddaughter, Cari and husband Jeremy Young of Madison, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Jace, Chandace, Breylia, Nasun, and Oakleigh; and one great-great-granddaughter, Mackenzy; and many friends. Wheeler age 87 of Enid will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev Vernon Lee officiating. Arrangement s are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Gerald was born February 10, 1929 in Muskogee, OK to Richard and Maggie Wheeler and passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his home. He grew up in Muskogee and joined the U. S. Marines on November 8, 1946 and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1949. He married Bonnie Lou Putty on December 24, 1953 in Muskogee and she passed away February 4, 1988. They moved to Enid in 1961 working for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. In 1972, he started G. E. Wheeler and Sons Roofing Co. and retiring in 1992. He was a member of Marine Corps League, American Legion, VFW, and helped with Toys for Tots. He is survived by his two daughters, Marcia Cordy and husband Ray of Hennessey and Cindy Helms and husband Rick of Niceville, FL and son Todd Wheeler and wife Christi of Enid, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and Brother J. D. Wheeler and wife Pat of Bixby, OK and two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie and son Jerry Wheeler, and two brothers Richard and Lloyd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Wall at Woodring Airport with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds. Wheeler, 79, will be 3 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011, at Memorial Park Cemetery Garden Chapel. Visitation and viewing will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Anderson - Burris Funeral Home. Orbie was born to Walter Ray and Amy Anne [Buford] Wheeler on March 29, 1932, in Madill and died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at his home in Enid. He attended Bowlin and Madill Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed at Hanford, Wash., and Fairbanks, Alaska. On October 17, 1951, he married Thelma Jean Bumpass in Tishomingo. They lived in Texas, California, Washington and Colorado, before settling in Enid in 1965. Orbie retired from K&M Engineering and was the owner of Wheeler Crane Service. He was a pilot and member of Experimental Aircraft Association, member of 700 Club and an avid gardener. Orbie is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Downs of Wichita, and Lisa Wheeler of Enid; son, Rick Wheeler of Enid; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Doyle Wheeler of Amarillo, Texas; and two sisters, Ethel Forguson of Amarillo, and Ruby Adams of Oklahoma City. Orbie was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jean, earlier this month; son, David; parents; brothers, Bud, Leon and Leslie; and sisters, Flora and Mabel. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma August 12, 2011 December 17, 1936 ~ August 9, 2011 ENID — A private graveside service for Thelma Jean Wheeler, 74, of Enid, will be 3 p.m. today, Aug. 12, 2011, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson - Burris Funeral Home. She was born to John Edward and Amanda Willis [Darrow] Bumpass on December 17, 1936, in Ellsworth, Okla., and died Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at her home in Enid. Jean attended Madill public schools. On Octopber 17, 1951, she married Orbie M. Wheeler in Tishomingo, Okla. The couple lived in Texas, California, Washington and Colorado, before settling in Enid in 1965. She was a member of the 700 Club and an outstanding jazz and blues vocalist. Her life was her ministry, lived in service to her community. Jean is survived by her husband, Orbie Wheeler of the home; three children, Rhonda Downs of Wichita, Kan., Rick Wheeler and Lisa Wheeler, both of Enid; two grandchildren, Marisa Hudson of Wichita and Anthony Downs of Grand Rapids, Mich; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Hudson, Timothy Hudson, Sarah Hudson and Donald R. Downs; and two sisters, Billie Purse of Williamsburg, Va, and Mildred Allstead of Los Angeles, Calif. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David; two sisters, Lorene and Maggie; and five brothers, Vernon, Jack, Archie, Frank and Doyle. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Rebecca was born May 8, 1951, in Enid, to Dr Donald Wheeler and Opal Derr Wheeler, and passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019. She attended Enid schools and graduated in the class of 1970. After graduation, Rebecca attended Phillips University and earned her Associate's Degree. She went to work for Vance Air Force Base-Servair in 1972 and continued working at the base until her retirement in May 2016, after 43 years. On February 6, 1978, her daughter Cari Nicole Wheeler was born in Enid, OK. Rebecca is survived by her mother, Opal Wheeler; one brother, Donald Wheeler and wife Teri; daughter, Cari Young and husband Jeremy of Kansas; five grandchildren, Jace, Chandace, Breylia, Nasun and Oakleigh; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzy; many friends; and her spoiled cat Sylvie.
