Funeral services for Jaunita West, 89 year-old Enid resident, is 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Wilbur G. Flynn officiating. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Jaunita was born to Jennie Shannon and Will Douglas on March 10, 1929, in Springer, OK, and transitioned on May 26, 2018. Jaunita grew up in Springer and attended school in Springer and Gene Autry. She moved to Enid where she met and married Oneal Smith Jr. and then later married Willie West. Jaunita worked at the Youngblood Hotel before working at the Enid State School in the kitchen and sewing alteration room. She retired after more than 20 years of service. Jaunita accepted Christ at a very young age in Springer, OK. She moved to Enid and joined First Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed Sunday School, WMU mission group and even cooking for the church. She really enjoyed the Silver's Bingo. She was active until her health would not allow her to attend or participate. Jaunita enjoyed planting flowers inside and outside, collecting and displaying knick-knacks, sewing clothes and cooking/teaching family members how to make sweet potato pies (homemade crust), and dressing with giblet gravy.

Jaunita leaves to celebrate her legacy one daughter, Linda Cohee-Sulliviin (Henry); one son, Rickey Smith-West (Theresa), both of Enid; bonus children, Oneal Smith Jr., James "Pat" Smith, Robert Vaughen, Mary Smith, Almar Jarrahi, Marlene Garrett, Elvira Haley; two sisters, Cecile Lax and Benester Douglas; one brother, Wilber Douglas; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Jaunita was preceded in death by her parents; bonus dad, Everitt Pickens; six sisters; six brothers; husbands, Oneal and Willie, and special friend, Fred Johnson Sr.

Memorials may be given through the funeral home to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
