© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma May 30, 2018 March 10, 1929 ~ May 26, 2018 Funeral services for Jaunita West, 89 year-old Enid resident, is 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Wilbur G. Flynn officiating. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Jaunita was born to Jennie Shannon and Will Douglas on March 10, 1929, in Springer, OK, and transitioned on May 26, 2018. Jaunita grew up in Springer and attended school in Springer and Gene Autry. She moved to Enid where she met and married Oneal Smith Jr. and then later married Willie West. Jaunita worked at the Youngblood Hotel before working at the Enid State School in the kitchen and sewing alteration room. She retired after more than 20 years of service. Jaunita accepted Christ at a very young age in Springer, OK. She moved to Enid and joined First Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed Sunday School, WMU mission group and even cooking for the church. She really enjoyed the Silver's Bingo. She was active until her health would not allow her to attend or participate. Jaunita enjoyed planting flowers inside and outside, collecting and displaying knick-knacks, sewing clothes and cooking/teaching family members how to make sweet potato pies [homemade crust], and dressing with giblet gravy. Jaunita leaves to celebrate her legacy one daughter, Linda Cohee-Sulliviin [Henry]; one son, Rickey Smith-West [Theresa], both of Enid; bonus children, Oneal Smith Jr., James "Pat" Smith, Robert Vaughen, Mary Smith, Almar Jarrahi, Marlene Garrett, Elvira Haley; two sisters, Cecile Lax and Benester Douglas; one brother, Wilber Douglas; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Jaunita was preceded in death by her parents; bonus dad, Everitt Pickens; six sisters; six brothers; husbands, Oneal and Willie, and special friend, Fred Johnson Sr. Memorials may be given through the funeral home to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma April 5, 2014 December 24, 1930 ~ April 2, 2014 ENID, Okla. - The funeral service for Kenneth David West, age 83, will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Kenneth was born to John Cleveland West and Zoe Merle [Sober] West on December 24, 1930, near Harmon, Okla., and passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Enid. Ken was an avid sportsman, and loved to hunt and fish. He played semi-pro baseball for Woodward early in his life. Ken was a huge baseball fan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until 1954. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. On March 10, 1953, he married Shirley Joan Turner, and they had three children. Ken finished his career working for Northrop at Vance AFB, retiring in 1996 after 32 years of service. Ken married Ruby Crow on Dec. 26, 1992. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a past president of Shirts & Skirts Square Dance Club, a member of Dudes & Dolls Square Dance Club, member of American Legion, and enjoyed American Legion baseball. Ken leaves behind his wife, Ruby, of the home; two sons, Rick West and wife, Cathy, Randy West and wife, Shelley; daughter, Sandra West; stepdaughter, Judy Fleming and husband, Gary, all of Enid; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; two stepgreat-granddaughters; and numerous and special nieces and nephews. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma November 30, 2020 March 19, 1934 - November 27, 2020 Due to covid-19, a private family Celebration of Life for Ruby Rose West, age 86, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Mausoleum of Memorial Park Cemetery. Out of love and safety for the health of our family and friends, Ruby's family will save our visitation, and hugs for you when a public memorial is held in the future. Friends may visit the funeral home to see Ruby and sign the guestbook on Wednesday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 am through 9:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Ruby was born on March 19, 1934 on a farm in rural Northwest Arkansas to Gordon and Lottie [Smith] Rothrock and passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in Enid. Ruby became a Christian at the age of 15 and was baptized at Highfill Baptist Church, Highfill, Arkansas. She always believed that we have guardian angels, she loved all angels, flowers and butterflies. She married J.R. Crow on June 15, 1952. They had one daughter Judy and were married for 32 years. She married Kenneth West on December 26, 1992. They were married for 21 years before his death. Ruby worked 53 years for Dr. A.W. Janzen and his son Dr. Dwayne Janzen. She touched the lives of many families during these years. She loved her office family. Through the years she loved playing bridge, bowling and square dancing. She enjoyed knitting afghans and left many for others to enjoy. For years she and Ken maintained a colony of Purple Martins which they and the neighbors enjoyed. Ruby loved sports and followed her grandsons all across the United States from ages 6 through 24 years. At all their baseball games she kept stat books which are cherished still today. The greatest joys of her life were her grandsons Cody and Tyler. And then came the bonus of three beautiful great-granddaughters, Gentry, Cheyenne and Emberly. Ruby shared great memories of her years as a child growing up on a farm in Arkansas. She had six sisters, one brother and ten half brothers and sisters. The family wants to thank all of Ruby's Facebook friends. She enjoyed all your pictures and visits. Ruby is survived by one daughter, Judy Fleming and husband Gary; two grandsons, Cody Fleming, Tyler Fleming and wife Britney; three great-granddaughters, Gentry, Cheyenne and Emberly Fleming; three sisters, Vera Garvin and husband Jack; Nellie Doss; and Hazel Taylor and husband Warren; a brother, Richard Rothrock and wife Myrlene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth and seven brothers and six sisters. Arrangements by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Bonnie was born Feb. 27, 1935, to Clyde and Anna Richardson and died Thursday, July 4, 2013. She married Kenneth Olsen in October 1952. Bonnie was a great artist, who enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, and a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and sew. She took pride in her work as a drywall finisher and a presser at Oxford Cleaners. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara, Kim and Kelly, all of Oklahoma City, and Kristy of Enid; two sons, Rory and Kevin of Enid; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karen; a son, Michael; a sister, Bobbie Conway; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and her children?s father, Kenneth. Reverend Tom Stanley will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the funeral home. Lynn arrived in this world January 27, 1965, in Enid, Oklahoma, to parents, Charles and Shirley [Schulz] West. On September 5, 2021, he passed away at his home in Enid. In 1983, Lynn graduated from Pioneer High School. After going on to obtain a bachelor's degree from Phillips University, he went to work as an aircraft mechanic at Vance Air Force Base in November 1990. There, he continued his career for over thirty years. On October 19, 2001, Lynn married Tamela in Enid, where they made their home. Family was very important to him as well as having a love for his country. He was a true River Rat He was preceded in death by his father, Charles G. West. Lynn is survived by his wife, Tamela, of the home; stepdaughter, Tabitha Rogers of Enid; granddaughter, Lillyanna Ward of Enid; mother, Shirley West of Enid; brother, Scott West and wife, Sharon of Enid; sister, Debbie Diehl and husband, Greg of Norman; niece, Courtney Keeling and husband, Nick of Oklahoma City; nephew, Blake Diehl of Norman; niece, Erin Diehl of Norman as well as numerous extended family. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma November 13, 2022 March 28, 1961 - November 9, 2022 The funeral service for Russell "Scott" West, 61-year-old Enid resident, is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Central Christian Church, with Rev. Susan Payne officiating. A come-and-go visitation with family is 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Scott was born March 28, 1961, in Enid to Charles and Shirley [Shulz] West and passed Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at his home. Charles was in the Air Force, and Scott attended various schools in the U.S. and abroad before returning and graduating from Pioneer with the class of 1979. He then attended Central State University, where he obtained his BS in Computer Science Technology. After graduation, he began working at Vance Air Force Base, where he worked through the ranks to become Network Control Supervisor. He worked there for nearly 30 years. He later worked with Chisholm Broad-Band as tech-support. On March 27, 2008, he married Sharon Sneddon. He was an active member of the Red Valley Fighter Pilots Association, also known as the "River Rats", and an avid supporter of their foundation. He started attending the Reno Air Races with friends in 1992 and rarely missed a year. He was an avid reader, woodworker, and aerobatic pilot. He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; mother Shirley of Enid; sister Debbie and her husband Greg Diehl of Norman; daughter Courtney and husband Dr. Nick Keeling of Oklahoma City, OK; three stepdaughters, Starla and partner Dana Sneed of Enid, OK, Sheena and husband Scott Johnson of Holdenville, OK, and Caitlin and husband David Brown of Wewoka, OK; 7 grandchildren, Devon, Stardan, Phoenix, Baelyn, Claire, Shilo, and Lucas; one sister, Debbie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his brother, Lynn. Memorials may be made to Folds of Honor, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Academic Foundation or Central Christian Church. |
