Helen Mae [Luckert] Wamsley RN
March 11, 1922 ~ May 23, 2011


ENID — Helen Mae, daughter of Pearl [Bolenbaugh] and William Luckert, was born March 11, 1922, on the farm south of Carrier, Okla. She passed away at Alva Share Medical Center on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 12 days.

She attended Carrier school system, where she graduated with the class of 1940. Helen attended Enid General Hospital Nursing School, where she graduated in 1944 and became an RN, working for Dr Jacobs and Dr Hinson in Enid.

Miss Luckert was married to Harold G. Wamsley on September 17, 1949, at Carrier Congregational Church. To their marriage two sons, Roger Lee and Gerald Neal [Jerry] were born. Harold passed away April 9, 1991.

Helen is survived by two sons, Roger and Gerald and his wife Diana, all of Alva, Okla.; two granddaughters, Tanner and Katie; three stepgrandchildren, Heath and wife Jocelyn of Wichita Falls, Texas, Matthew and wife Ashley and Lyndee Nickel, all of Alva, Okla.; a brother and his wife, Richard and Vivian Luckert of Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Alva First Presbyterian Church. The Rev Judye Pistole will officiate. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
