Funeral service for Wanda Cisco Waken, 79, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Carl Roberts officiating. Visitation with family will be 5:30-7 p.m. today at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery. Wanda Dorinne Root, born Feb. 9, 1933, in Homestead, Okla., daughter of Elvin and Cecille (Smith) Root, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, at her home in Enid. Wanda was raised in Homestead and Enid before moving with her family to Green Forest, Ark.

There, she married Jack Cisco on Dec. 24, 1948. They moved to Enid in 1955, where they raised their five children. Wanda was always a hard worker. For many years she worked at J.C. Penney's as a catalog manager. Later, Wanda and her brother Ike formed Root Real Estate, which eventually franchised Century 21 Root Real Estate. She worked as the broker and Ike was the builder.

In 1986, Wanda married Dave Waken. They owned two convenience stores while working with real estate investments and property management. Wanda was an Ambassador for the Enid Chamber of Commerce and was awarded Ambassador of the Year. She also was a Republican woman and a master gardener. Wanda attended Harvest Time Worship Center. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and wanted to share His love with everyone she came in contact with. Wanda did not know a stranger.

Survivors include her brothers, T.J. Root and Guy Root; children, Virginia and Ron Garrison, Sandi and Jerry Johnson, Ken and Terri Cisco, Pam Liesenfelt and Kurt Cisco; grandchildren, Tana Garrison, Shaun Johnson, Kimberli Weston, Kaci Cisco, Kristen Cisco, Shaun and Allie Mach, Kelsey and Thomas White, Morgan Liesenfelt and Carson Liesenfelt; and seven great-grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by husband, Dave.
