July 30, 1938 - November 10, 2023

The funeral service for Gilbert Lee Willson, 85 year-old Enid resident is 11:00AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gilbert was born July 30, 1938 in Sacramento, California to Joy and Ruth (Brogdon) Willson and died Friday, November 10, 2023 in Golden Oaks Nursing Home. On April 9, 1970 he married Doris Peters in New Mexico and the couple made their home in Enid. Gilbert worked as an oil driller for Sooner Completion for a time before his career as a auto mechanic. He worked Fidelty Motors, and Jantzen's for many years, He later worked at Halsey-Long Ford in Garber for close to twenty years before he retired. After he retired he worked at OnCue for 12 years as a car wash attendant.

Gilbert enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching science-fiction movies, but mostly spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son Gilbert Willson Jr. and wife Jennifer (Mattson) of Perry, 3 grandchildren; Destiny, Gilbert III, and Nayomie. 3 great-grandchildren; Zoey, Anastasia, and Ivy, and one on the way....also surviving is daughter-in-law Darla Peters of Enid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, his son Danny Peters, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
