A Celebration of Life for Ray H. Varney, age 77 years, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Vernon Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Ray was born May 18, 1938 in Webster Springs, West Virginia to Hobert Varney and Jesse Mildred (Haddox) Varney, and he passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Enid.

Ray served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1962. After moving to Enid, he worked at Vance Air Force Base for several years. He married Bobbie Sherman on September 27, 1972 in Perry, Oklahoma. In 1973 he started working in the railroad industry, eventually retiring from BNSF Railroad after 32 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Varney, his parents, one brother, Wesley Varney, and three sisters, Anna Barnett, Helen Robinson, and Susan Graynom.

Ray is survived by two sons, Billy Varney and fiancé Lisa Wright, of Enid; Hobert Varney and wife Regina, of Blair, Oklahoma; one brother, Mark Varney and wife Sharon, of Camden On Gauley, West Virginia; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorials may be made in Ray’s name to Bennie’s Barn with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
