ENID — A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010, at Anderson Burris Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Annetta Kathryn Varney-Newton left for her heavenly home on November 24, 2010. Kathryn lived her earthly life with the victory of Jesus Christ in her heart and departed this earth only after fighting a courageous battle against ovarian cancer.

Kathryn was born on November 8, 1941, to Bencel and Lillian (Williams) Hamilton in Diana, West Virginia. She was raised a coal miner's daughter, and her mother taught her cooking, cleaning, ironing, and sewing, which brought Kathryn great joy in her life. Artistic expression was the avenue Kathryn used to keep in touch with her heavenly creator by arranging beautiful spaces in her home and yard for her family and friends to enjoy. She used her spiritual gifts of artistic expression and hospitality in church activities and her membership in P.E.O., Red Hat Society, and Athenaeum groups. Kathryn believed life was precious and worked each day with purpose to make the way easier for someone else.

Kathryn was united in marriage to James Wesley Varney on December 25, 1957. They made their home in Enid for 47 years. Kathryn and Wes owned and operated Granny's Wash House for 10 years. Wes Varney passed away on November 14, 2004.

Kathryn was united in marriage to Charles Newton of Waynoka, Oklahoma, on January 7, 2006. Kathryn and Charles shared their Christian faith in common and spent time traveling.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Wesley Varney. She is survived by her husband Charles Newton of the home; son Steve Varney and wife Debbie of Enid, and their sons, Matthew of Enid and Christopher of Broken Arrow; daughter Lisa Teske and husband Dr. Tim Teske of Enid, and their sons, Andrew of Stillwater and Kendall of Enid; three siblings, Wallace Hamilton and wife Elaine, Warren Hamilton and wife Lois Jean, all of West Virginia, and Vivian Frazee and husband Larry of Arizona. Also surviving are stepson Dr. Carl Newton and wife Jacqueline of Cherokee, and their children, Rachael Morris of Vancouver, Canada; Tim Newton and wife Michelle of Tulsa; and Stacie Newton of Fort Collins, Colorado, and another stepson, Kevin Newton and wife Kari of Fort Supply, and their three children, Kaylee, Kyle and James, and step-great-grandsons, Dax Davis and Elijah Newton.
