The funeral service for Melva Dean Vance, 80, will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Central Christian Church. Rev. John McLemore and Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Melva was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Enid, Okla., to Horatio and Sylvia Protsman Parker and died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Enid.

She attended the Enid Public School system and graduated from Enid High School in 1946.

She married Dale Vance June 15, 1947 in Enid, Okla.

She worked at Sears and also Oklahoma Benefit Life. She was 1st Deputy of Garfield County Court Clerk, retiring in 1979 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Central Christian Church and the adult Bible Study. She was Central Christian Church Mother of the Year for 1994, a member of Sweet Adelines Chorus and Alpha Epsilon of ESA Sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, of the home; two daughters, Karen Foster of Enid, and Carol Ingram and husband John of Enid; grandchildren, Tammy Hromas and husband Ted of Waukomis , Okla., Eric Ingram and wife Gena of Waukomis , Okla., Dustin Ingram and wife Mirah of Thorton, Colo., Brian Foster and companion Stacy Robles of Enid, Okla., and Leah Goeke and husband Steve of Enid, Okla.; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Waldon Parker and Roy Parker, and one sister, Lela Stewart.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Caregivers with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
