Funeral service for Dale E. Vance, 88, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Central Christian Church, with Rev. John McLemore and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends today, March 18, 2013, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dale was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Enid to Ray and Mary Wright Vance and passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He grew up in Enid, attending and graduating from Enid High in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Jan. 23, 1943. He served on the USS Young as a signalman during WWII and was honorably discharged on Jan. 21, 1946. He married Melva Dean Parker on June 15, 1947, in Enid. She passed away March 10, 2009. Dale worked for Gold Spot Dairy, General Mills, and worked as postal clerk and rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years, retiring Sept. 14, 1979.

Dale was an active member of Central Christian Church, where he was a teacher for the adult Bible study class for many years. He was one of the co-founders of the Caregivers of Central Christian Church. He also served as an elder for many years and served as a Stephen Minister. Dale served as a Boy Scout Leader and helped with Little Olympics for several years. Dale enjoyed being a member of the Men’s Garden Club.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Karen Foster, and Carol Ingram and husband John, all of Enid; grandchildren, Tammy Hromas and husband Ted of Waukomis, Eric Ingram and wife Gena of Waukomis, Dustin Ingram and wife Mirah of Thornton, Colo., Brian Foster of Enid, and Leah Goeke and husband Steve of Enid; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Vance; and a sister, Lavonna (Bonnie) Morefield.
