Edna Mary [Boehm] Tims
June 28, 1915 ~ February 10, 2019

Edna Mary was born to William and Mary Boehm, on June 28, 1915, in a farm house located three miles north of Medford, Oklahoma. She returned to that same home after marrying Holman Tims and there they raised three children. For a few years they made their home in Marlow, OK and Oklahoma City, OK.

No matter where she lived, you would find her at the piano either playing or teaching others to play. Edna accompanied a multitude of students at contests, made the weddings of many couples a treasured event and her music comforted grieving families. Each time the church doors were open, she would be seated at the organ or piano using her gifts in order to give glory to God.

Edna spent 18 years in the Medford Public Schools helping children learn the joy of music. There she planned, produced, and presented wonderful and elaborate yearly Christmas programs enjoyed by the entire community. Other than Medford, she taught music at Renfrow, Springdale, Almony, Eureka, and Gore schools in Grant county and Bethel school in Kay county. When she wasn’t teaching in a school, she was teaching private lessons. All years totaled, she had more than 1000 piano and organ students. For 50 years she gave lessons in her Medford music studio.

Edna received her education at Medford High school and Bethany Peniel College, now Southern Nazarene University, and continued her education earning workshop credits at the State Universities.

She co-authored, with former Medford band director, C.W, Simmons Jr, a rhythm method book, called "Pulsing the Beat."" This book was used in many schools across Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

Music was not Edna's only interests. She loved to crochet, color, was a competitive game player, enjoyed watching Thunder basketball and kept current with technology, using her iPad daily. Routinely she would memorize piano music, books of the Bible and states and capitals just to challenge herself.

Edna made people of any age glad just to be around her. She was genuinely interested in who each person was and what they had to offer.

She was faithful to her church in both attendance and giving. She was an encourager and cheerleader to those she encountered.

Edna entered heaven on Sunday morning, February 10, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother, Earl and his wife, Jessie; her husband, Holman Tims; and son-in-law, Tim Campbell.

She will be forever loved and remember by her three children, Marilyn Olson [Jim], Montie Tims [Eileen], and Madelyn Campbell; her nine grandchildren, each of whose high school and college graduations she attended, Jamie Olson Smith [Brian], Lisa Olson Lang [Eric], Dana Olson Bellows [Reuben], Michael Tims [Tara], Chris Tims [Angi], Jennifer Tims Spence [Brian], Aaron Campbell, Stuart Campbell [Karen], Sara Campbell; and 20 great-grandchildren, Hallie, Macie, and Tyson Smith, Ella, Owen, Ava, and Georgia Lang, Abbey, Isaac, and Ruby Bellows, Drew, Kaylie and Emmy Tims, Tucker, Reese, Rylan and Tyler Tims, Connor, Ethan and Olivia Spence.

Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams, Bethany. Services will be Saturday, February 16, 11:00am at the Medford High School Auditorium, 301 W. Main St., Medford, OK with viewing from 10-11am prior to the service. Interment will be at 3:00pm in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK.

Memorials may be made to Medford Church of the Nazarene, 123 South 3rd St., Medford, OK 73759.
