Dorothy "Dottie" [Dobbs] Thtonburth
June 25, 1932 ~ July 1, 2007


The funeral for Dorothy "Dottie" Thornburgh, 74, of Enid, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be at Garden Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

She was born June 25, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas, to Harry Edward and Edith Mott Dobbs and died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at her home.

She graduated from Enid High School in 1950 and attended Enid Business College and Autry Technology Center.

She was active in her church, Parent Teachers Association, Zeta Rho and Delta study clubs.

She worked for Moore Accounting for five years and retired in 1993 from the Enid News & Eagle after 25 years as assistant family editor. She wrote a Recipe Corner column for the Outlook newspaper published by Eagle Marketing of the Enid News and Eagle.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sooner, Red Carpet and Young At Heart bridge clubs, Senior Life Network, Enid Senior Center and International Society of Poets. She published her own book of poetry, "My Heart Talks; Sometimes It Rhymes," in 2001.

She married Carl "Bud" Thornburgh April 5, 1996.

Surviving is her husband, one son, one daughter, one sister, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Relay for Life.
