© Henninger Hinson Funeral Home Garfield County, OK February 2025 February 4, 1935 ~ February 27, 2025 The funeral for Gene O. Thrasher, 90-year-old Enid resident, is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Matt Miles will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Gene was born February 4, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, the first born son of Clint O. Thrasher and Doris P. [Horsley] Thrasher, and died Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Greenbrier Nursing Home. He was an avid sports fan and graduated from Oklahoma University in 1957 with a BA in Journalism. He immediately went to work as a sports writer for the Lawton Constitution Publication in Lawton, Oklahoma. Gene served as a sports writer for over 42 years and continued to cover games long after his retirement for the Lawton Constitution. He loved athletes and athletics and watched many games after his retirement. The most remarkable traits in his life was he never judged anybody and did no harm to others his entire life. He is survived by one brother, Clint O. Thrasher Jr.; one sister-in-law, Jane Thrasher; and several nieces and nephews. |
