Susan Elaine [Buckles] Thomas
August 10, 1957 ~ August 6, 2018

Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Susan was born August 10th, 1957 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Albert & Lucille (Hiser) Buckles, and peacefully went Home to the Lord on August 6th, 2018, with her daughter by her side, at their home in Enid, after a brief yet incredibly inspiring battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

The youngest of four children, Susan was raised in Pawhuska until the family moved to Enid when she was eight years old. She attended Enid Public Schools and graduated from Enid High in 1975.

Shortly after graduating, she attended barber school, obtained her barber's license, and was a successful self-employed barber/stylist for over 40 years.

At the age of 26, she wed Brian Wesley Thomas on April 12th, 1984, and together they welcomed their only child, a daughter named Jessica, in 1987.

Brian's job had them to move to Ada, Oklahoma in 1988 where they made their life together for 14 years until Brian passed away in 2003, just a few weeks after their 19th wedding anniversary.

Shortly after she and her daughter moved back to Enid to be near family in 2006, Susan found her second family in the form of her coworkers and clientele when she began working at Legend's Hair Studio, where she continued to work until retiring in mid 2018, due to her cancer battle.

Susan was a never ending source of love and light, with a missionary's heart who loved nothing more than sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen. She was a vibrant people person who loved spending time with her daughter, family and friends, making new friends, and studying the Word of God.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Thomas, of the home; one sister, Jennie Willems, of Hillsdale; two brothers, Jack and David Buckles, her mother-in-law, Margie Thomas, all of Enid, and numerous nieces and nephews.
