© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma August 4, 1944 July 26, 1873 ~ July 30, 1944 William Madison Taylor , Enid Publishing Company President and Secretary of Radio Station KCRC, who died Sunday at his home 2015 W. Maine, was buried Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral service for the well-known citizen were held in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev T. H . McDowell officiating. Mr Taylor had been in poor health since March 11, 1943 when he suffered a partial stroke. He was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky and lived there as a boy. When he was 13 years of age his parents moved west and settled at Wellington , Kansas. He attended school in Wellington and began his newspaper career on the Wellington Monitor-Press as an apprentice. Taylor's first venture as a publisher was in a southern Kansas town and proved unsuccessful. Returning to Wellington, he eventually became owner of the Wellington Journal. In 1900 he was married to Miss Nellie Radcliffe, and in 1909 he came to Enid and joined the staff of the Enid Daily Eagle. In 1910 he purchased an Interest in the publication and became its manager. A member of the Presbyterian Church, Mr Taylor was active in the Masonic circles, was a member of the Guthrie Consistory. He is survived by Mrs. Taylor and John, his son, and a brother Tom R. Taylor, Encino, California and brother-in-law Dr Love at Blackwell. |

Oklahoma, will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of the Darnall Funeral Home with Rev Hollis Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Taylor was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital early Saturday morning. A life long resident of Enid, he is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs Ernest Baker, Enid; two sisters, Mrs Stanley Main and Mrs Maxine White, both of Enid; and his grandmother, Mrs Oda L. White, Enid. |

Randolph, who died in a local hospital late Saturday, will be at 4 PM Monday in the Henninger - Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald C. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger - Allen. He was born and reared at White Cloud, Kansas. On June 22, 1917, he married Angela Barbe in Bunkie, Louisiana. She preceded him in death on January 9, 1968. They moved to Enid in 1941 where he had continued to make his home. Taylor was a photographer and worked for the Marquis Studio for many years before his retirement. Survivors include two sons, M. Theodore Taylor of Northport, New York and F. William Taylor of Northport, New York; five grandchildren and one great – grandchild. |
© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma May 22, 1973 February 2, 1900 ~ April 14, 1973 Olgie L. Taylor, 73, of Hillsdale died early Monday afternoon in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev Meredith Sides will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his memory for the Congregational Church of Hillsdale with the funeral home in charge of the funds. Born in Wakita February 2, 1900 he moved to the Hillsdale area where his folks established a home one mile North and one mile East of Town. He attended rural schools there and following his education he began farming on his fathers farm. He was a member of the Christian Church of Hillsdale. Taylor is survived by his wife Docia, of the home; two daughters, Mrs Paul [Maxine] McCurley, Everett, Wash.;Mrs Jack [Ruth] Porter, Evergreen, Colo; one son, Dr R. D. Taylor, Glenwood Springs, Colo, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Dale and his parents. |
© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma December 10, 2005 April 2, 1918 ~ December 8, 2005 Mildred L’Nora Taylor passed away peacefully at her home in Enid Thursday morning. She was born in Oklahoma City on April 2, 1918. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Central Christian Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Mildred grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1938. She met the love of her life, Amret Taylor during her high school years, and they were married on March 31, 1940. Mildred and Amret were true soulmates and were married for 49 years until Amret’s death in 1988. She missed him each and every day of these past 17 1/2 years. The true joys of her life were her boys, Ron and Richard. She and Amret gave them both "roots and wings" and, above all, unconditional love and support. Mildred was so joyfully proud of her sons, their wonderful wives and her grandchildren. In the early 1960s she began working in the loan department of Central National Bank. After retiring she wanted to be busy again and worked several more years at Dillard's. Mildred loved people and had many, many friends. She had an eye for fashion, wrote wonderful letters and cheered for OU football. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Ron Taylor and his wife, Joan, of Hilton Head, S.C., and Richard Taylor and his wife, Andy, of Windermere, Fla.; one sister, Helen of Olathe, Kan.; her grandchildren, Nathan Taylor and his wife Kelly, Hallie and Christie Taylor and Blake and Zane Taylor. Also, Jackie and Paul Lluy and Kristie and Jason Fedor. Plus five great-grandchildren. The family expresses their sincere and lasting thanks to Tender Touch Home Services and Hospice Circle of Love. Enid, Oklahoma September 2012 December 15, 1924 ~ September 26, 2012 Ruth Montez Spomer, 87, was the daughter of Willie W. and Ada D. [Snider] Spomer, born on December 15, 1924 at the family farm near Dover. Her family moved to Hennessey later on. She and James Taylor were married on January 1, 1947 at her parents home in Hennessey. She and Jim moved to Purcell and later moved to Enid. They had three children, Jama, Bob and Bruce. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and an infant sister. Ruth graduated from Hennessey High School, went to Calvary Baptist Church in Guthrie and was a member of the Ruth Chapter of the Eastern Star in Enid, the Enid Order of the Eastern Star, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was buried at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma. |

Jim was born to William and Rosabelle [Northcutt] Taylor on September 24, 1921, in Wayne, Okla., and passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at his home in Enid, Okla. Jim graduated from Wayne High School, and then served in the Army Air Corp. On January 1, 1947, he married Ruth Montez Spomer in Hennessey. They made their home in Enid, where Jim worked for Stuart Pontiac Cadillac Dealership, starting out as a mechanic, then service manager, and finally in sales for a total of 59 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 80, 32 Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by three children, Jama and Edwin Moore of Mineola, Texas, Bob and Teresa Taylor of Enid, and Bruce and Jean Taylor of Edmond; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Westbrook of Purcell. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma June 18, 2013 October 26, 1927 ~ June 14, 2013 ENID, Okla. - Funeral service for John William Taylor, 85, Enid, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. John was born October 26, 1927, in Enid and was the only child of William and Nellie Ratcliff Taylor and passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home. After graduating from Enid High School in 1944, at the age of 16, he briefly attended Phillips University. Shortly thereafter, John enlisted in the Air Force because of his lifelong love of flying. He served as staff sergeant in Guam. Prior to his deployment, he met and started courting his future wife, Sue Hackleman, of Stillwater, after meeting at the swimming pool in Green Mountain Falls, Colo. They married six years later on June 5, 1950, in Stillwater. After being discharged, John attended Oklahoma A&M until he returned to Enid to help run the Enid Publishing Co., where he served as president and owner until 1989. He was owner of KCRC-KNID radio stations and Enid Two-Way. John was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees, was former president of the YMCA and the Enid Chamber of Commerce and honored as a Distinguished Alumni of OSU as well as serving on the OSU Board of Governors. Because of his close connections to Oklahoma State, he was a diehard Cowboys fan and an avid supporter of all things Cowboy. In fact, he was even known to fly Coach Stanley on recruiting visits. Later, John and Sue made a donation, which allowed Oklahoma State to create and furnish the formal dining room at the College of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, as well as helping in the creation of the Karsten Creek Golf Club. John had a deep love for La Veta, Colo., and spent many family trips enjoying hunting, fishing, ranching and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; daughter, Kathryn and Mike Upchurch, grandchildren, Taylor and Tara Burnett and Barrett and Kourtnei Storm, all of Woodward; son, Tom and Betsy Taylor of Steamboat Springs, Colo., grandchildren, Billy Taylor of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brenden Taylor of Denver, Colo., Kyla Taylor of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; son, Steve and Lori Taylor of Woodward, grandchildren, Dianne Gilchrist and Kelly Ryan of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter, Susan Mayberry of Yukon, Okla., grandchildren, Wyatt Morgan and Mallory Mayberry; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Sofey and Nelley Burnett, Kamden Phillips, Brayson and Brooks Storm, Kenny Jack Gilchrist; and care taker, Brad Walker. Enid, Oklahoma August 2021 December 6, 1929 ~ August 18, 2021 The services celebrating and honoring the life of Margery Sue Taylor, 91, resident of Enid, will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 24th 2021 at the First Methodist Church of Enid with Pastor Devon Krause officiating. Private family burial will be held in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Sue was born in Oklahoma City, December 6, 1929, to Hal William and Mabel Frances [Roberts] Hackleman and went home to be with the Lord August 18, 2021 at her home in Enid, surrounded by her family. Sue was raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma, were she graduated from Stillwater High School in 1947. On June 5, 1950, she married John William Taylor. She and John became parents in 1952 and raised four children. Sue was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church in Enid where she served on the administration board, and where she and John worshipped. After raising a family of four, Sue returned to Oklahoma State University at the age of 50. In 1984, Sue graduated from the OSU College of Home Economics, now the College of Human Environmental Sciences, completing her bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations. Sue Hackleman Taylor was a philanthropist, Enid community leader, homemaker, and loyal OSU alumna. Her activities included serving fifteen years as director and secretary of Enid Publishing Company, publisher of the daily newspaper in Enid, Oklahoma. She also served the same positions for the Enid Radiophone Company, operating stations KCRC-AM and KNID-FM. Sue served as President and development chairperson for the Enid YWCA. In 1979, she was honored for her major contributions to this organization by being named the Enid YWCA "Woman of the Year". Sue served as the Garfield County representative for the Oklahoma Blood Institute, president of the Domestikates Home Extension group, treasurer of the Garfield County Extension Homemakers, president of the Chapter Q, PEO, Junior Welfare League, DAR, and an alumna of Pi Beta Phi fraternity. Sue continued to demonstrate her loyalty and dedication to her alma mater, serving as first vice-president of College of Human Environmental Sciences [CHES] alumni organization and as executive board member of the CHES Associates. She was also named to both Omicron Nu and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. She chaired the 1989 Greater University Fund drive to raise private and corporate dollars for OSU scholarships. She and her husband, John, were donors and strong supporters of the CHES. Taylor's Dining Room, a major Instructional facility of the College's School of Hotel and Restaurant Administrations, was named in their honor. In 1990, Sue received the OSU Alumni Associations' Distinguished Alumni Award. She served as an OSU Foundation trustee and governor. She established the College of Human Sciences' first professorship in 1990, endowed four President's Distinguished Scholarships, and became the Founding Partner for the Distinguished Chef Scholarship Series. Sue was a member of the Foundation's Henry G. Bennett Society, and a Life Member of the both the OSU Presidents Club and the OSU Alumni Association. In 1993, Oklahoma State University honored Sue Hackleman Taylor during their Ninety-eighth Commencement exercises by presenting her with the citation and medallion which is emblematic of The Henry G. Bennett Distinguished Service Award. Sue was an avid Oklahoma State fan and loved watching the Cowboys play. She loved spending time with her family, creating memories around celebrations of birthdays, holidays, and many other special events. Sue also enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her many dear friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter, Kelly Taylor Ryan. She is survived by her children: daughter, Kathryn Upchurch and husband, Mike, of Woodward, OK; son, Tom and wife, Betsy, of Steamboat Springs, CO; son, Steve and wife, Lori, of Woodward, OK; daughter, Susan Mayberry of Yukon, OK; her grandchildren: Taylor and Tara Burnett, Barrett and Kourtnei Storm, Billy Taylor, Brendon Taylor, and Kyla Taylor, Dianne Gilchrist, Morgan, Wyatt and Mallory Mayberry; her great grandchildren: Abbey, Sofey and Nelley Burnett; Kamden Phillips, Brayson and Brooks Storm; Kenny Gilchrist; her sisters: Joy and Ed Roberts, and Jane and Jim Anderson; and, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Ron was born May 24, 1935 in Big Stick, West Virginia to James Alfred and Vestine [Word] Taylor and passed away at his home in Enid on January 15, 2021. Ron graduated from Straton High School, and then he served in the United States Air Force. On June 3, 1955 Ron married the love of his life Shirley McCray in Charleston, South Carolina. Ron worked at Vance Air Force Base with the flight simulator division before his retirement. He was a member of Enid First Assembly of God Church. Ron is survived by his wife Shirley; son Dr James Taylor of Norman; daughter Sharon Miner of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and his sister Cleo Taylor. James was born January 10, 1934, in Van Dyke, Mich., to Sidney and Eva Esther [Vest] and died Monday, January 25, 2010, at his home. He graduated from Van Dyke High School and attended Bob Jones University and Detroit Bible College. On August 25, 1956, he married Dolores Reed in Van Dyke, Mich. He served in several Baptist churches in Michigan, Arkansas and Oklahoma as pastor and also served as an interim pastor. He served as minister of music, education and youth in several churches. He was an administrator of Baptist Retirement Center in Cleveland, Okla., for 10 years. In his early years, he served as minister of music, sang first tenor with several colleges and church and association male quartets. He was active in the work of the Baptist Association having held offices of moderator, clerk, associational music director, youth director and camp director. He was active in ministerial alliances, often serving as president and was a member of Terlton Valley Kiwanis Club, serving as club secretary. He became a member of First Baptist Church in Enid in 2001 and taught adult VII Sunday school class, sang in the Senior Saints Choir, chaired or served on several and varied committees, chairman of “Senior Adult Prime Timers” and worked in VacationBible School. He volunteered with the membership campaign of the Denny Price Family YMCA for several years. He volunteered at Chisholm Elementary School and worked in the library for eight years. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; his son, Jim Taylor and wife Glyna; daughter, Karen Boardman and husband Rick; granddaughter, Alissa Taylor; sisters, Barbara Pedde and Jean Berry. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sidney Earl Taylor. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma January 16, 2021 August 8, 1957 ~ September 29, 2014 Ronald Alfred Taylor Jr, age 57, went to be with our Lord Savior Jesus Christ on September 29, 2014, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. Ron lived in Enid for over 20 years. Ron was born on August 8, 1957, in Conway, S.C., to Ron and Shirley Taylor. He was raised in Clovis, N.M., at Cannon Air Force Base. Upon graduation from high school he received a basketball scholarship and attended college in Odessa, Texas. He spent several years playing basketball with the Cannon Air Force Base basketball team. He served in the United States Air Force for six years and was stationed in Guam and California. Ron worked for Applebee’s for several years and most recently Jumbo Foods. Ron is survived by seven children, Teanesa Taylor, Broderick Taylor, Jason Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Taylor, Joshua Taylor, all of Oklahoma City, and Brittni Taylor of Enid; parents, Ron and Shirley Taylor of Enid; siblings James Taylor of Norman, Sharon and Jerry Miner of Amarillo, Texas, Jack and Theresa Taylor of Lebanon, Mo. He is also survived by his wife Janice Taylor and special friend Jennifer Webb. Ron is also blessed with 10 grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Ron had a love for life and a love for people. He always had a smile on his face. He adored his children and loved his family. He leaves this message to those he loved, "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. She passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her family, due to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. Alicia graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1986, then attended classes at Phillips University for a short period, before beginning her career at what was then Liberty Federal Savings and Loan. She met her future husband Jeff Taylor in 2000, and they were married September 22, 2001, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Due to Alicia's lifelong struggles with Cystic Fibrosis, she and Jeff were not able to have children of their own, so they instead opened their hearts and home to 14 foster children, eventually adopting their two sons from the foster care system. Alicia's greatest joy was her family, her children, and her little Yorkie LuLu. Alicia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Aletha Lukenbaugh; paternal grandparents, Grover and Verena Campbell; an aunt, Doris Klemme; and father-in-law, Frank Gosnell Jr. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Taylor, of the home in Enid; two sons, Brandon and Elliott; mother, Sue Arnold and husband Brian, of Enid; father, Price Campbell and wife Alice, of Guthrie; mother-in-law, Sydney Gosnell, of Enid; father-in-law, Joseph Taylor of Boaz, AL; sister-in-law Melissa Taylor, of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as numerous cousins and other family and friends. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service. Visitation with the family present will be this evening from 6-7 at Stittsworth's. Karisma was born on December 28, 1997, in Enid, the daughter of Phillip Antonio Davis and Teanesa Taylor, and passed away on Friday, February 1, in Oklahoma City. She lived in Enid, attending kindergarten at Glenwood School. Karisma then moved with her family to Spencer and, later, to Millwood where she was currently a freshman. She played basketball for the Millwood School System and attended Zoe Bible Church in Enid. Survivors include her mother, Teanesa; sister, Canisha Walker; brothers, Santonio Davis, Joe McNeely and Tony Taylor, all of the residence; great-grandparents, Urlee Hodge, Shirely and Ronald Taylor; grandparents, Janice Taylor, Ronald Taylor; God family, Sharon Babcock and Weslie White, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made in Karisma's memory to Zoe Bible Church. |
