Mary E. [Dunning] Kilfoile Tanner
August 21, 1928 ~ June 21, 2017


The funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs Mary E. Tanner, 88, of Enid, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday June 27, 2017, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will precede the funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Mary was born on August 21, 1928, at Smithland, Kentucky, to Clarence and Myrtle Wadley Dunning and passed from this life on June 21, 2017.

She moved to Enid in 1992 from Manhattan, Kansas, after retiring from AJ Pierson Furniture Store after 24 years of service.

Mary married George Kilfoile on April 27, 1946, in Plainfield, Illinois. Three children were born to this union: Michael, David, and Phyllis. She always kept busy in retirement by crocheting, gardening, golfing, and volunteering at Our Daily Bread.

She is survived by a son, David Kilfoile of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; daughter, Phyllis Metcalfe of Mannford, Oklahoma; brothers, Bertrand Dunning of Pontiac, Illinois, Charles Dunning of Columbus, Mississippi; sisters, Wanda Hale of Carnell, Illinois, Elsie Edwards of Odell, Illinois, and Lynda Puckett of Streator, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jenniffer Stone, Michelle Kitchens, and Gwinn Wilson of Enid, Oklahoma, Tim Metcalfe of Boston, Massachusetts, Bill Metcalfe, John Metcalfe of Mannford, Oklahoma, and Daniel Kilfoile of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Kilfoile; sisters, Laveda Hjerpe and Patricia Clark.

Memorials can be made in her name to Our Daily Bread and Hospice Circle of Love, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Richard Allan Tanner II
December 18, 1972 ~ September 7, 2013


ENID, Okla. - Funeral service for Richard Allan "Rick" Tanner II, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Oakwood Christian Church, with Eric Keller officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors. Viewing and visitation under the watchful eye of Enid Police officers standing guard will be at Oakwood Christian Church. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Rick was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on December 18, 1972, the son of Richard and Patricia Mandly Tanner and passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013, at his residence.

He graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1991, and studied aircraft mechanics at Autry Technology Center.

On March 5, 1994, he married Shawna Renee Mittelstet.

Rick started his law enforcement career with the Enid Police Department on February 9, 1998, graduating from Cleet Academy in July. On December 14, 1998, Rick was assigned to C-Shift [patrolman]. On November 12, 2001, he was assigned to the Narcotics Division as a detective. Rick was promoted to the rank of sergeant on January 22, 2007, and was assigned to Investigations as detective sergeant. On Jan. 28, 2008, he was transferred to Narcotics as detective sergeant. On December 19, 2011, Rick was assigned to C-Shift as a patrol sergeant, a position he held at the time of his passing.

Rick received several commendations including Winchester West Apartment Fire [9-23-2001], Operation "Ice Storm" Drug Raid and Arrest [4-5-2005], Bank of The West Armed Robbery [6-27-2007], Drive By Shooting [5-23-2008], Scheffe's Pharmacy Burglary Investigation and Arrest [2-23-2009], and Operation Crackdown Drug Raid and Arrest [10-12-2009].

Rick is survived by his wife, Shawna [Mittelstet] Tanner; two children, Emily and Matthew; parents, Richard and Patricia Tanner; his sister, Amy [Tom] York; nephew, Brandon Daniels, and niece, Kaitlyn Daniels; beloved grandson of the late Everett C. and Reta Tanner and the late Joseph and Julia Mandly. Also surviving are many loving family and friends, not to mention his brothers-in-law enforcement.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to FOP Memorial Fund for Richard Tanner, through Security National Bank of Enid.
