Funeral services for Jerry Leon Summers, age 75, of Enid will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 in Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Pastor Matthew Thoms will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation time from 7-9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born March 20, 1930 in Bernie, MO to David Berlin and Lottie Madge Machen Summers and died Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2005 at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Jerry lived in Bernie, MO where he graduated from Bernie High School. Later he joined the United States Air Force in October of 1950 serving in Germany during his tour of duty.

On May 7, 1952 he married Mary Jo Vine in Tunica, MI. Later he attended Rownsaville Business College in Malden, MO. They moved to Enid in 1960 and went to work for Vance Air Force Base. At the same time Jerry took night classes with Enid Business College. He later became the Superintendent of Administration at Vance until his retirement in March of 1996.

Jerry then was a volunteer with St. Mary's Regional Hospital for several years. He was also the president of the Heritage Hills Home Owners Association. Jerry was an elder and pastor of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Summers of the home; a son, Randy Summers and his wife Suzanne of Lindsay, OK; two daughters, Kelly Nave and Penny Shepard and her husband Kelley all of Enid; eight grandchildren: Cory Hoeltzel, Craig and Shannon Summers, Stephanie Krahn, Dylan, Morgan and Rylee Nave and Sasha Shepard; a sister, Dorothy Swafford of Bernie, MO; mother-in-law, Ann Pitts of Clarksville, AR and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a daughter.

February 11, 1935 - May 12, 2021

Funeral services for Mary Jo Summers will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2021, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Don Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Mary Jo was born February 11, 1935, in Gideon, Missouri, to Austin and Anna (Pyland) Vines, and said her last "I Love You" and went to meet Jesus on May 12, 2021. On May 7, 1952, she married the love of her life Jerry Summers in Tunica, Mississippi.

She is survived by her son, Randy Summers and his wife Suzanne of Lindsay; daughters, Kelly Nave and Penny Shepard of Enid; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and Richard Pyland of Sikeston, Missouri. Mary Jo left a legacy of love for her family to carry on.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry Leon Summers; and daughter, Theresa Hoeltzel.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice Circle of Love, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
