Dr. Clarence R. Roberts Jr., 80, was born to Clarence R. and Mary B. McKeown Roberts March 23, 1930, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010.

He graduated from Norman High School in 1947. He attended Oklahoma City University and served in the United States Navy.

Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 1956 and pursued a career in surgery.

On Aug. 23, 1956, he married Sarah Matlock in Oklahoma City. He practiced medicine in Enid, Okla., for over forty years. He was active in AMBUCS and played saxophone with the doctors’ band. He was known for his compassion and dedication to his patients as well as his loyalty to the OU Sooners.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; three children, Russ Roberts of Oklahoma City, Lynne Wilson of Myerstown, Pa., and Suzanne Roberts-Williams, M.D., of Edmond; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Amelia Fry Davis, and one granddaughter.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

May 28, 1931 - December 16, 2020

Sarah Lou Matlock Roberts, age 89 of Edmond, formally of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Sarah was born May 28, 1931 in Hastings, Oklahoma to John and Stella Key Matlock. She was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her siblings: Avis, Agnes, Wayman, Johnny, Noel, Earl, Beryl, and a newborn brother; and a granddaughter, Eva Renee Williams. She grew up in Southwest Oklahoma and Arizona, graduated high school in Arizona as the valedictorian, and moved back to Oklahoma. Sarah attended college at Oklahoma State University and graduated from Phillips University in Enid with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She married Dr. Clarence R. Roberts on August 23, 1956 in Oklahoma City, and they raised their children in Enid. They were married 54 years before Clarence’s death on August 26, 2010.

Sarah had 3 children: Russell Roberts, Sara Lynne Wilson Roberts, and Suzanne Roberts, 6 grandchildren: Emily, Ben, Jewel, Naomi, Van, and Eva, and 7 great-grandchildren: Samuel, Bethany, Joshua, Alicia, Naomi, Gabriel, and Jude.

Sarah helped manage her husband’s medical practice and cared deeply about all of his patients. She was loving and welcoming to all, family and friends alike. Her world centered around caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren. She helped raise two of her grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was an avid Oklahoma Sooner’s fan and a lifelong tennis player. Sarah will be deeply missed by all.
